¾ c. dried elderberries
3 c. water
1 Tbsp. dried ginger root
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. raw honey
- In a medium saucepan, add elderberries, water, ginger, and cinnamon. (Do not add honey!)
- Bring to a boil, then cover and reduce to a simmer for about 45 min to an hour until the liquid has reduced by about half.
- Remove from heat and let cool to warm.
- Pour through a fine mesh strainer into a one quart bowl and mash berries with the back of a spoon to squeeze out all that goodness!
- Add honey and stir well.
- Pour into a canning jar.
kids: ½ – 1 tsp.
adults: 1 Tbsp.
For cold or flu:
Take the standard dose every 2-3 hours until
Boil 2 Tbsp. elderberries in 16 oz. water for 15 minutes. Or put 1 Tbsp. of syrup into a mug and add hot water.
